About the project

VIVA is the leading mobile and internet company based in Bahrain and now part of STC (The biggest mobile company in the Middle East and North Africa). VIVA partnered Plexable to digitally transform their platforms to more interactive versions to achieve:

  • Better Conversion Optimizations (Online Sales)
  • Better usability
  • Standardize the User Experience for all the Platforms

VIVA was looking to revamp all their platforms' user experience and UI including their website, mobile apps, and self-service app.

My responsibility

I was the Director of User Experience and design lead for this project. I  led this project from the beginning - Collecting requirements, facilitating all the design workshops thru establishing the design process to delivering the entire project. In addition to being the point of contact for VIVA for this project at Plexable. I lead a team of designers and researchers. We worked to synchronize the entire experience of all their mobile apps, e-shop, and website for consistency and a better experience.

General design process

  • Conduct comprehensive user research and competition analysis.
  • Integrate segmented targeted audiences (Personas)
  • Design information architecture for their websites and mobile applications.
  • Create low and high-fidelity wireframes and flows.
  • Facilitate workshops in all design stages.  
  • Facilitate workshops with each department and stakeholders in VIVA.
  • Produce and align UX direction and user journeys.
  • Creating prototypes and interaction design.
  • Designing a complete UI design system.
  • Perform user testing.

We started our process by creating comprehensive research at the discovery stage. We collaborated with the marketing department in VIVA, developed a complete understanding of their user base, and conducted user personas. We also had data usage of actual customers calling our partners. In addition, we have analyzed and studied the patterns of how people order on the website. We also conducted a brand persona for VIVA to determine the tone of language we would use later in the e-commerce website and other portal sections.

For this project, we went thru all the design stages Discovery, Empathize, Define, Ideate, Design, Prototype, and Test. After we finished the initial scope, we plugged the design process into their design department to go into an agile/scrum environment.
